Stand-Out All Week and Feel your Very Best!
Sorority rush in the South is unlike anything else — it’s big, bold, beautiful, and full of unforgettable moments. Whether you’re a freshman stepping onto campus for the first time or a returning student ready to find your home, recruitment week is your chance to show off your personality, confidence, and style. At Golden Green Boutique, we specialize in curating sorority rush outfits that help you look polished, feel comfortable, and stand out in all the right ways. Southern recruitment is known for its charm, tradition, and fashion‑forward energy, and we’re here to help you navigate it with ease.
Southern sorority rush is typically held in August or early September, which means one thing: heat. Lightweight fabrics, breathable materials, and comfortable shoes are essential. But don’t worry — you can still look cute while staying cool. Think flowy dresses, soft pastels, bright statement colors, and accessories that elevate your look without weighing you down. Rush week is long, emotional, and exciting, so your outfits should help you feel confident from the first house to the last.
🌸 What to Wear for Each Round of Sorority Recruitment
Every round of recruitment has its own vibe, and your wardrobe should match the moment. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect and what to wear so you feel prepared, stylish, and totally yourself. Every school can be a little different - but sign-up for one of our Sorority Rush Styling Sessions (in person or virtual) and we will help you make a plan for the whole week no matter what school you are attending!
Open House / Go Greek Round
Open House is your first impression — and in the South, first impressions matter. This round is usually the most casual, but casual doesn’t mean boring. Depending on your school, you will likely be focused on shopping for bottoms that pair with your rush t-shirt that is designed each year and provided by your school’s Panhellenic. Go for stand-out bottoms & accessories that really show your personality while helping you stay comfortable and cool. Think polished shorts, a fun skirt, or tailored skorts. Add accessories that feel intentional & you — a fun necklace, a stack of bracelets, or a hair accessory. Light and bright colors photograph beautifully - while light, breathable fabrics will keep you cool. For shoes - some sneakers or comfortable sandals that are a little more “elevated” in style will help complete your look while keeping you comfortable all day long.
Philanthropy Round
Philanthropy round is all about showing your heart, but your outfit should still show your style. Some schools provide a t-shirt for this round as well, so you will need to have another pair of bottoms that are stylish and help you to stand-out. For other schools you are encouraged to wear a dress for this day. The dress should be casual like something you would wear to brunch with friends. This is your opportunity to showcase your personality a little more. Add accessories that feel intentional — a great necklace, a stack of bracelets, or a great pair of shoes. This round is more active, so comfort is key.
Sisterhood Round
This is where the magic happens. Sisterhood round is more personal, more emotional, and more stylish. You’ll want to wear something that feels like you, but elevated. Choose standout dresses with feminine details like ruffles, floral, lace, or other details. Think “wedding or Sunday best” energy. Heels or wedges are optional — stylish flats or sneakers are totally acceptable and often more comfortable.
Preference Round
Preference Night is the most formal round of recruitment, and your outfit should reflect the moment. Go for classic, elegant silhouettes in deeper colors, soft satins, or timeless neutrals. This is your chance to show your most polished, confident self. Keep accessories meaningful, and choose shoes you can walk in comfortably — you’ll want to be fully present for this special day.
👗 What to Wear on Bid Day
Bid Day outfits are all about comfort, cuteness, and celebrating your new chapter. Most sororities give new members a T‑shirt, so your job is to pair it with something stylish and photo‑ready.
Here are some go‑to outfit ideas:
- Athletic skirts or flowy shorts
- Simple jewelry
- White sneakers — comfy and classic
The key is to keep it simple, breathable, and cute. You’ll be running, hugging, and taking tons of photos, so comfort is everything.
Recruitment in the South has its own unique style — polished, feminine, and full of personality. Here are a few insider tips to help you shine:
- Choose breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, and lightweight blends.
- Bring blotting papers, a mini fan, and a water bottle — the heat is real.
- Keep your makeup fresh and natural; think glowy, not heavy.
- Wear shoes you can walk in all day — comfort is confidence.
- Add accessories that feel intentional, not overwhelming.
- Stay true to your personal style — authenticity stands out.
